Why do some of my Modern Health clients have a therapy session usage limit?

Some Modern Health therapy clients in California have limits on how frequently they can use their allotted sessions, depending on their employer’s benefit package. This restriction applies only to a subset of clients. Both you and your client are notified so you can plan together how to use their Modern Health–covered sessions. You’ll know a client is impacted when you see the yellow “Limited therapy sessions.” banner, which appears in two locations in the platform.

 

If you are a Modern Health therapist licensed in California, you may note that some of your Modern Health clients will have a limit to the cadence of usage of their allotment of therapy sessions.

This limitation is applicable only to a subset of your Modern Health clients, due to the benefit package offered by their employer.

Your client will also be alerted of this limitation to allow both of you to adequately plan the best way to use their allotment of Modern Health-covered therapy sessions. 

You will always know if a California-based client has a limitation to the usage of therapy sessions when you see the yellow banner that says ‘Limited therapy sessions'. This banner is visible in 2 locations:

  1. Member Profile Page (when you click on the client's name in your Clients tab)
    - In the Overview section

    - In the Sessions section


  2. Messages: 

When you open the direct message with a client who has this limitation, you will also see the yellow banner.
