Tax Information - Hyperwallet or Bill.com

You’ll receive a 1099 if you earned at least $600 via Hyperwallet from Modern Health and are registered as a U.S. individual, LLC, partnership, or qualifying corporation. Non-U.S. payees don’t receive 1099s. Check your designation and 1099s at pay.hyperwallet.com under Resources → Tax Documents. If none appears, email payments@joinmodernhealth.com if needed. For corrections or tax-info updates, contact the same team. To calculate yearly earnings, download payment History. Bill.com 1099s arrive separately annually.

 

You will receive a 1099 if you:
  • were paid $600 or more via Hyperwallet by Modern Health within the year,

       AND

  • Have one of the following tax designations in Hyperwallet:
    • Registered as a U.S. Individual under your SSN
    • Registered as a U.S. business with the specific designation of LLC, Partnership, or a certain Corporations filing as individuals

Non U.S. individuals and businesses will not receive a 1099. Please read below on how you can determine your total yearly earnings.

How can I determine my tax designation in Hyperwallet?

You can determine your tax designation by downloading your W9 form from Hyperwallet. You can do this by logging in at pay.hyperwallet.com. Once signed in, navigate to the ‘Resources’ tab and then ‘Tax Documents’. Here, there should be a substitute W9 form available for download. On the form, under the first header ‘Taxpayer Identification Information’ you should see your ‘Federal Tax Classification’.

When will my 1099 be available?

1099s should be made available by the end of January each year through your Hyperwallet portal. Please allow up to 7 business days for the 1099 to become available.

How do I access my 1099?

1099s can be found online at pay.hyperwallet.com. Once signed in, click on the ‘Resources’ tab and then ‘Tax Documents’. On this page, a 1099 should be available for download. 1099s will only be made available online through your portal; they will not be sent via U.S. mail.

 

I don't see a 1099 in my Hyperwallet account

If you do not see a 1099 in your Hyperwallet, you likely did not meet the requirements outlined above. Please verify that you met the above requirements before reaching out to Modern Health. If you are confident that you should have received a 1099 for the year, please contact us at payments@joinmodernhealth.com.

The information on my 1099 (Tax ID, name, address, amount, etc.) is not correct

Hyperwallet verified your name, address, and tax ID against the IRS database when you first activated your Hyperwallet account, so this information should be correct. If for some reason the information on your 1099 is incorrect, please reach out to payments@joinmodernhealth.com detailing exactly what edit(s) need to be made.To receive an updated 1099 at this stage, Modern Health will have to formally submit an amendment request to the IRS. You must submit an edit request to Modern Health by 4PM PST on April 29th to receive an amended 1099. Amended 1099s will be made available no later than May 13th.

As a reminder, you can update the tax information Modern Health has on file for you at any time online at pay.hyperwallet.com. Once signed in, navigate to the ‘Settings’ tab and then ‘Profile’. If you need to update your tax ID (or any other information that you cannot edit on the profile screen) please contact the provider payments team at payments@joinmodernhealth.com

If I did not receive a 1099, how can I determine my yearly earnings from Modern Health?

If you log in at pay.hyperwallet.com, all of your payments can be found under the 'History' tab. From this page, you can easily download a spreadsheet of all of your payments and determine the total. 

If needed, you can match your payments with your invoices. On the 'History' page in Hyperwallet, each payment has a link in the ‘description’ column. If you click into the description link, there is a row labeled 'Details'. A brief description of the session can be found here. There is also a ‘Details’ column if you download your payment history into a spreadsheet. We have included an example below that explains how to read a session description found in the ‘Details’ of a payment:

AA: The provider's initials

Send: The first four letters of the member's employer

X: The member's first initial

C: The status of the session (C is completed, N is no-show, L is late-cancelation)

Where are my payments that are paid via Bill.com reported?

If you are also paid via Bill.com, and those payments are over $600 for the calendar year AND you are designated as a U.S. individual/sole proprietor, partnership or LLC(P)  you will receive a second 1099 separate from your Hyperwallet 1099 via email by January 31st, 2023.
